DISTRIBUTION OF RARE EARTH ELEMENTS
Project title:
Main objective:
Distribution of rare-earth elements in peat from Eastern Carpathian's "Cold Pole").
Main objective:
Study the distribution and evaluation of the dissolution of rare earthy elements (REE), which contain minerals during the peat formation process, taking into account the fact that peat soils in the studied area are the most fertile lands and are often used and marketed as substrate (soil) for flowers. In addition, this study aims to assess REE mobility in peat areas and soil-plant accumulation factors. Knowing the contribution of agriculture, through the use of phosphoric pesticides and various technological equipment, to the concentration of REE in peat areas, the project would investigate the effect of anthropogenic contribution and thus differentiate the anthroposphere as a distinct geological period. The determination of REE by neutron activation analysis (NAA) is a critical part of the project, being an accurate analysis method with good reproducibility.
